Yangtze - Year Two

This half term we will be continuing with our castles and knights topic. Our focus this half term will be dragons! In Science we will be looking at what plants need to survive, we will be planting seeds and watching them grow. In English we will be reading a range of books linked to dragons including ‘George and the Dragon.’ We will also use parts of the film ‘How to train your dragon.’ to support our writing. We will be writing instructions on how to train a dragon and writing a piece of descriptive text for a wanted poster.

In Maths we will be focusing on how and why we use the inverse operation for addition and subtraction, solving two step problems and estimating. Our RE topic is praying and we will be answering the question ‘How and why do people pray?’

The weekly spelling test will take place on Thursdays. Learning log homework will be handed out on a Friday to be in for the following Wednesday. This half terms PE focus is rugby which we will do on a Monday, we will be learning the skills we need to play rugby ready to put them into a game. Please make sure your child has outdoor kit – black joggers, white t-shirt, black hoodie/jumper and trainers.
