Yangtze - Year Two
This half term we will be answering the question ‘Why is Africa Amazing?’ We will be focusing on Kenya in particular and looking at the differences and similarities between Kenya and England. In Science we will be looking at the difference between humans and animals and focusing on food chains. In English we will be reading a range of books with an African theme, we will be concentrating on writing recounts in the form of diary entries and instructions. On Friday we will be learning to play the Djembe drums – how exciting!
In Maths we will continue to focus on addition and subtraction and move onto multiplication and division. We will continue to use our number bonds to help us calculate. In RE we will be continuing the topic ‘how can we make good choices?’ Our PSHE topic this half term is Identity, society and democracy: Celebrating difference.
The weekly spelling test will take place on Thursdays. Learnings log homework will be handed out on a Friday to be in the following Wednesday – please encourage and support your child to do it. PE will be on Tuesdays and we will be focusing on skipping to learn all the skills needed for the competition.
