Danube - Year Three

This half term we will be continuing our ‘rainforest’ topic and answering the question ‘What was it like to live in the Rainforest long ago?’ We will be learning all about the ancient Mayan civilisation and what they contributed to the world we live in today. We will conclude this topic with a ‘Mayan Day’ celebration where we will make delicious things to eat, wear some Mayan clothing, play some games and make some music. In English we will be writing descriptions, recounts and poetry. We will be working hard on our reading skills and learning new grammar and punctuation. We will have a short spelling lesson every day. In Maths we will continue to work on our addition and subtraction fluency and we will then work on multiplication and division. We will also be practicing 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10 times tables every day and key skills every week. In PE we will learning and demonstrating new skilsl with Real PE. Please ensure you have your kit in school at all times so we can be flexible and take advantage of any good weather. Our PSHE topic is about keeping safe and managing risk and is all about how to recognise and respond to bullying. Our Mind Mate topic is ‘Friends and family.’

  • Please ensure your child reads every night and completes their reading diary.

  • Learning logs will be sent out on alternate Fridays to come back on Wednesday.

  • Spellings will be sent home weekly to be learnt for a weekly test on Thursdays.
