Yangtze - Year Two
This half term our topic is ‘Kings and Queens.’ We will be finding our all about King Charles III and about what happens at a coronation. We will be looking at coronations from the past and how they are the same and different. We will talk about parliament and find out about the role of our prime minister. In Art, we will be painting crowns, portraits and will be creating stamps.
Our Science topic is ‘Growing Plants.’ We will be investigating the conditions that plants need to grow and we will be busy in our school garden.
In Maths we will be learning to divide numbers by 2, 5 and 10 and will be adding and subtracting 2-digit numbers. Your child knows their login details for TT Rockstars and can practise their 2,5 and 10 times tables on the computer/ tablet.
In English we will be reading Bog Baby and The Twits. We will be writing a diary entry, character descriptions, a book review and our own story. We are also writing a report about the human body.
Our MindMate topic is ‘Being the same. Being different’ and our PSHE topic is ‘Friendship.’
In PE, we will be practising our agility and coordination skills and will be playing various ball games. On Fridays we will learn gymnastics skills with the Leeds Gymnastics Club coach. We will also be continuing our African drumming sessions this half term.
