Yangtze - Year Two

This half term our topic question is ‘Could you have been a knight?’ We will be visiting Skipton Castle.

We will travel back in time to medieval times and find out what life was like inside a castle. We will find out where castles are built and name physical features such as hills, rivers, lakes. We will investigate the materials used to build castles and a knight’s armour. We will be finding out how people trained to be knights and will be writing a diary for a knight. We will design our own coat of arms, shield and castle.

In Literacy we will be reading tales about knights and dragons and we will be writing stories. We will be learning to write sentences using the conjunctions if, because, when and that. We will also be writing instructions in our Knight’s survival guide.

In maths we will be finding fractions of shapes and objects and we will also be measuring length.

This half term in PSHE topic is Girls and Boys and our MindMate topic is Strong Emotions.

PE will be on Wednesdays and Fridays this half term. A coach from the Leeds Rhinos will be teaching us rugby skills this half term and they are hoping that some of us will take up rugby at our local club Whinmoor Warriors.
