White Laith Primary School is situated within Whinmoor in Leeds. Children and adults work together in an atmosphere of trust, respect and belonging. Yangtze - Year Two

This half term our topic is ‘Kings and Queens.’ We will be finding our all about King Charles III and about what happens at a coronation. We will be looking at coronations from the past and how they are the same and different. We will talk about parliament and find out about the role of our prime minister.  In Art, we will be painting crowns, portraits and will be creating stamps.

In Science, we will be learning about keeping clean and eating a balanced diet. We will also be growing plants and will be investigating the conditions that plants need to grow.

In Maths we will be learning about length, shape and will be finding fractions of shapes and quantities (wholes, halves, quarters and thirds).

In English we will be reading different versions of fairy tales from around the world and will be writing our own versions of Jack and the Beanstalk.

Our MindMate topic is ‘Being the same. Being different’ and our PSHE topic is ‘Friendship.’

In PE, we will be practising our agility and coordination skills and will be playing various ball games. We will be busy practising our skipping skills for the Skipping Festival in June. On Fridays we will learn gymnastics skills with the Leeds Gymnastics Club coach.
