Danube - Year Three
Welcome to Danube all of our new pupils and parents/carers! We have had a fantastic start this week and it was lovely to see lots of new smiling faces.
Our topic this half term is Rainforests. We will attempt to answer the question ‘Why are rainforest so important?’. We will study what a rainforest is and where in the World rainforests exist. We will be researching the animals whose habitats lie in the different layers of the rainforest and we will report on these animals. We will also be thinking about humans and their effect on the rainforest. To help us to do this a visitor will be delivering the workshop ‘What is it like to be a cocoa farmer?’. In Science, we will study plants in greater depth, learning how and why it is important that they grow well and all about the jobs that each part of the plant does. We will be looking after the wildlife garden and working hard to find out how to help our raspberries grow for Mrs Sheerins’s jam. In RE, we will be finding out about what it is like to be Jewish. In Art, we will be creating our own Rainforest, thinking about how to create different textures and colours. In DT, we will be designing and making our own paper mechanisms for a pop-up book. If you have any pop-up books at home, please feel free to bring them in so we can study them. Our PE days are on Tuesday and Thursday. Please make sure your child has indoor and outdoor kit.
Please remember to read every night and remind your child to make their own comment in their reading diary each night. Spellings are given on Fridays and should be learnt for the following Friday.
Thank you for your support,
Miss Adamson and Miss Lavelle.
