SEN Governor

Nicola Sheerin

As SEN governor, I meet each term with Mrs Turvey (school SENCO), to keep up to date with current SEN news across school and report back regularly to the full governing body. At White Laith we have a SEN policy which is available to view on the school website. The school has a SEN register which is reviewed on a regular basis. Children who are included in the register have provision put into place to ensure their individual needs are met and they are included in all aspects of school life.

Mrs Turvey meets regularly with the parents of children on the SEN register to keep them up to date with their child’s progress and targets. The school works closely with external providers to provide additional support to children in school. Specialists such as: speech therapists, counsellors, specialist teachers for dyslexia, early years specialist teachers and occupational therapists.

The school works hard to provide a broad and balanced curriculum for all children. It ensures that each child can access the curriculum at their own ability and is provided with any additional support required to do so.
