Our intent is that history at White Laith Primary School will help pupils gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world. It enables children to understand our shared British values, traditions and heritage, and aims to develop their cultural capital. Our engaging topics inspire pupils’ curiosity about the past and encourage a life-long interest in history.

Our curriculum is rich in language and enables children to ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh evidence and reach their own conclusions. We make full use of resources within the immediate and wider local area, so that children develop an understanding of the rich history of their locality. Visits, visitors and real life experiences help to deepen understanding and allow children’s learning to flourish.
